I just installed my fuel pump and tried installing the hard line to the carb but the fitting from the fuel pump is at the wrong angle and also is the wrong size. Do I have the wrong fuel pump or is there a fitting that changes the angle to let the fuel line fit?

Re: Fuel pump fitting question on my 77 (Love My 72 and 77)
 Is your new pump stock? My “Carter” allows rotation of lower casting with the outlet (by disassembly). If your pump is stock then you need to purchase a matching LT1 or whatever hard fuel line – unless you care to bend your own from hard brake line.
Now the correct fitting size can be found at most parts stores – Pep Boys, Auto Zone, etc. – unless you have a real oddball. If can’t find a correct fitting then you should verify that pump as suspect wrong part # or wrong part fell in box. :(
Re: Fuel pump fitting question on my 77 (Love My 72 and 77)
The pump I installed is just like this one I belive a 90 degree fitting might give me the correct angle. What do you have on your 77? My car is just a straight 350 nothing special
Re: Fuel pump fitting question on my 77 (vettes1st)
Just compare it to the old one, unless you threw it away. Never throw old parts away until everything is replaced and working properly.
Once agian I am rewarded for not telling the complete story. My car has been apart for about 14 years and I have a hard time remembering what I was doing last week. Thanks for the advice I was kinda looking for someone with a corvette that could look on their car or might know the answer from experience. Thanks guys

This is what I use. This image is how it would look, looking from the front of the block straigh back. #41216, puts the outlet at the front of the block. I have a custom hardline from my pump to my Demon, but I think this may be the pump you need.
Re: Fuel pump fitting question on my 77 (rainman69)
Also, the fitting should be a 5/8" fitting on a 3/8" inverted flare line. But, take what I say with a grain of salt, because I don't drive/work on a '77. :smash:
Re: Fuel pump fitting question on my 77 (bertmeister)
There should have been a 90 degree fitting on the old pump. Remove it and install it on the new pump and the fuel line should now fit.
I would suggest removing the old fitting and going to NAPA and getting a new fitting (just like the old one) and a small tube of fuel resistant thread sealer. Use the sealer only on the pipe threads where the fitting screws into the pump body and not on the flare fitting. The new parts only cost a couple of bucks. Fuel leaks can be a bear. Been there, done that.
Re: Fuel pump fitting question on my 77 (zymurgist)
I went and got a 90 degree fitting it fits in the fuel pump and the fuel line fits in it. Tha angle is a little off but im tired of dealing with it so I am going to do a little bending on the fuel line. hopefully this will work for me. Hey how do you like that Demon carb? I was thinking of going with a demon!
Re: Fuel pump fitting question on my 77 (Love My 72 and 77)
Success!! I just got done fixing my problem with a little bending and a 90 degree $3 fitting. Thank you guys with all your help! Im sure I will need it more.
Re: Fuel pump fitting question on my 77 (Love My 72 and 77)
I noticed the fuel pump you shown on your original thread loks identical to the pump I purchased from zip. However the fitting they had given me to fit on the pump does not allow a hard fuel line to snugly fit inside the pump. What type of fitting do you have and if possible, could you take a pic so I can see what it is. I have an Edelbrock carb but I cannot get a good fitting for the pump and I need a line that will work with the setup I have.

Re: Fuel pump fitting question on my 77 (Love My 72 and 77)
Thanx, I bought the same fitting from Pep Boys. I believe that is 1/4" pipe plug thread, male end to 3/8" opening for the hard line. I will take your info on the specs for that fitting. Does the fitting leak where the end goes to the pump? Do you have a Q-jet on top of the manifold? Very good pic. Once again, Thanx.
Re: Fuel pump fitting question on my 77 (Oldguard 7)
Hey You are very welcome I am glad I could help anyone in here. I am having my quadrajet rebuilt right now even though I would really like something else but my manifold is a polished spread bore type so I will rin the Q jet for now. I havent installed the motor yet to see if the fitting leaks -- I don'e plan on it leaking Talk to you later :o)
Re: Fuel pump fitting question on my 77 (Love My 72 and 77)
From the pictures you just posted and for future reference, I think the pump I posted would line up perfectly with your hardline, and it's a 3/8" inverted flare.
