Its weird how ive painted this car 3 times,in 6 years, stripped it down to glass twice, gelcoated it ,block sanded for a month, but this time it took all i had to actually start cutting it,maybe im getting older or i was actually happy with the paint this time, well either way itll be even better this time.
I had more but there was too much dust in the air and it looked like it was snowing in the garage. Its now fit where i want it ,now i need to start making bonding strips and start glassing and filling.
My wife thinks im nuts to be doing it again.
Talk about recurring nightmares! Looks good Pat. Just as a hint, you can cut the edge off of the old panel and use it as a backing/bonding strip for the top seam and the rear vertical seam.
Can anyone confirm what type of flares those are? I've looked at the Ecklers flares on Dave's site and the ACI flares on Chris's (69MyWay) - I like the fact that the ones Pat is using has that flat edge that goes all the way around the opening on the rear flare just like the stock fender. I really want that subtle quality that if you look you know it's flared but it looks so similar to stock.
ill try and contact the guy i bought them from and see if he knows where he got them or what brand.thanks guys ,dave the top bonding strip is still there just a piece is missing but back one theres nothing there ill make that one.
It looks like you are stopping short on the front edge rather than going all the way to the door jamb. I wish I had done that instead of all the work I created for myself by splitting the skin at the door. :yesnod:

Re: Flaring has begun(pics) (patsnitrovette)
Now help a fiberglass novice understand this process. You're glueing the flares to what's left of the upper fender, then attaching another fiberglass strip to join the flare to the upper fender? Then smooth out the seam?
"Pat's Chop Shop" officially in business! Looking foward to seeing the whole process as I know nothing about fiberglass. Then again... I don't know alot about a bunch. :p:
