I just got a quote from Keisler for their 5 speed C3 conversion kit. Although they do not seem to offer a Forum discount, they are offering a 100.00 discount through the end of October incase anyone was considering their kit. Still pretty expensive. I also asked them to email me an instruction document but they did not whish to do that. They said all the instruction come with the kit and the install is straight forward. Has anyone on the forum installed one of these kits? Is it as simple as they state?

Re: Keisler discount (conway62)
I am working on it right now. The instructions that come with it are pretty straight forward. Just follow them step by step. Now that I have mine installed I don't know if I would have put the tranny fluid in first like it says do. I believe I would have waited until I got the tranny in. I took a bath in fluid when I pulled the rubber plug out of the end to put the yoke in. I have yet to put my exhaust hanger back in or my driveshaft. Just got back, at lunch with my driveshaft.
I'm looking forward to receiving mine next month. The install looks pretty basic, but I'm not sure about the clutch/pressure plate installation difficulty. It also might be harder to install on my back in 10 degree weather by then..:) .
I also think that, by the time you include a new shifter, drive shaft, U-joints, mounting bracket, speedo gear, etc., it would cost you more to go elsewhere.

Re: Keisler discount (Z-man)
Z-Man, Yes I am reusing my original bellhousing. I measured the runout and it was well within the tolerance. Should be no problem with yours either, I suspect.
Is the clutch fitment anything special? In my case, I have a new clutch and pressure plate recently installed. It would be cool if I did not have to remove the bell housing again. Is the tranny the same spline and etc as normal GM? :hurray:
Thanks, Eddie -
I guess I will re-use my bellhousing. The engine folks asked whether or not I wanted a new "scattershield" (I guess that's what they call them nowadays) and it got me thinking. They said the scattershields are much better now and that Vette drivers are pretty close to that area of the engine - probably suggesting that legs will be severed when cluch and flywheel parts go flying.

When you order the tranny, they ask what engine and tranny you currently have (or are installing) so that splines are matched (I guess...). You also give them your rear end ratio so that they send the correct speedo gear.
Z-man, there's bellhousings, and then there's scattershields. Bellhousings are just the aluminum things that keep the dirt out. Scattershields are strengthend bellhousings to withstand a clutch/flywheel explosion.

Re: Keisler discount (rainman69)
Your old muncie is probably 10 spline. My new Keisler is 26 spline. SO, my new clutch, less than 2000 miles old, had to be replace with a new 26 spline clutch. :smash:
Actually I have an M20 with a 26 spline and recently put a Hays hi performance clutch and pressure plate in the car. I am very happy with the Hays setup and would just like to upgrade to a 5 speed. My gear ration is 3.36 so I thought the Tremec / Keisler would be a good choice for the car.

I have the Tremec 3550 (same ratios as the TKO) that I installed almost two years ago. With the 3.36 rear, I cruise at 70 mph at 2000 rpm in 5th. With the 3.27 first, I can roast the tires at will in 1st. I personnally love it. Best mod I ever made to the car.
