I have no night pics of this mod. I figured if I could get past the chief complaint and that is the 1157's screw in LED bulbs are not bright enough during the day then the night illumination would not be a problem. The daytime picture was taken on a sunnyday.
I worked on this over the weekend and my wife said the same thing [/b]pws69[/b] said, way to much work.
I said its not work, its fun.
Two things I wanted in this project. When I am showing the car I want the tail lights to be 100% original, at least to anybody viewing the car.
And I wanted the LED effect.
I got both and the starburst look was an unexpected bonus that occurs because of the original tail light lens and the LEDS are spaced out over the circuit board. I noticed the farther back the circuit board the more the starburst spreads out, another inch an I could have had it fill the whole lens but then the housing would not mount properly into the bumper I think so I left it the way it is.
I just plugged in a pair of Stylin' Concepts bulbs in place of the 1157's and I was done. Work great and absolutely no mods......
I've seen those in the catalogs......how do they look/work??
I was actually surprised at how well they work and look. The LED array is about an inch in dia. and I ordered the "bright white" versions. I have had them in about a year now and I am very pleased. An added bonus is that occassionally, my brake pedal doesn't return fully and the lights stay on - but because they are LED's, it hasn't killled the battery!! The fiber optic indicators on the console work, but they are dimmer than with incandescents - no big deal.
