Yes they are reproduction originals. No they are not cheap. Had planned to get the glass ones, but at last moment went with the polished aluminum. Glad I did.

Gonna paint the car black soon and think the covers will look terrific against that background. Getting the mufflers on next week.

Yeah I know the whole process. Me and FAUXRS put his covers on and had to cut out some of the front fiberglass to fit in the covers. Redrilled 4 holes each side but still came out sweet!

I'm already pricing side pipes for the 68. Triple black vert with chrome side pipes, makes me weak at the knees. Wow they want a arm and a leg for the GM stock style, I don't want painted to match. Any links out there guys??

Hookers are a nice alternative. I already had headers, so did not want to disrupt that, but I do like the hooker pipes. A little cheaper, but not that much.

Guys tell me that the chrome is cheap and cracks off after a few years, any known problems? Those come out directly from the collector and turn out, no S-pipe like stock side pipes right?

Chrome Hooker sidemounts will set you back about $1,500 for a BB, maybe less. Jet-hot BB Hooker sidemounts w/o inserts are about $800 with the forum discount.

Factory replica covers will set you back at least 2K! Then your choice for the side mufflers and pipes, plus the mounting kit....another $600-800. So you're talking almost $3,000 for the factory original type side exhaust. Can't beat that look though.

Can you run headers with the factory sidepipes? (meaning full length)

Yes! That is what I am doing, but realize it takes some cutting and bending by a creative muffler guy. :)
