Several cars did this on the Hot Rod Power Tour when we hit rain....still runs OK, but helps keep the rain out of the filters/carbs.

Umm, ok. Yeah, it's really getting that cowl induction effect. :skep: I can see doing that temporarily for rain like Martin said but otherwise that is just silly. Overall, the car doesn't look too bad in the photos.

Isn't cowl induction the method by which the intake takes advantage of the high pressure air that builds at the base of the windshield? Does this setup pictured qualify? Or is it not close enough (too high, too far back) to the cowl?

You are right. I dont think this would qualify as cowl induction. It's too far from the windshield, as you said.

David,
Are you ever going to retire the '79 pic? You look to have a nice *new* part of your life coming in.

Re: Never seen this before (Cali,68,L-79)
actualy I messed around with RC cars when i was younger. So i made some strange filters for them, that shouldn't effect the way his carbs work if enything it would be a lot better then sucking in hot air from under the hood. over all if he is planing to go 180MPH++++ his carbs could coke from all that air if it was put the rite way. some of my stuff ran 240MPH+++ i had to make a filter cover otherwise it would just not get enought air into the littel carb at high speeds.
