The Wal-Bro pumps that come with Holley EFI kits are excellent. Powerful enough for well over 500 hp and dead quiet. Mine is an inline model and I can't hear it at all.
I have a 69 with TPI. I am using an 88 Ford Truck rail mounted pump. It's made in the US by AirTec, about $100 from CarQuest. I am using the stock tank. Supply line off the sending unit to the inlet of the pump that is mounted to the top of the RH frame rail. Out of the pump using the stock line to a filter in the engine compartment. The pump says use a filter on the inlet side, I am using the strainer in the tank as that filter. The pump says it has no suction capability, but it works fine. About 5000 miles with no problems. It is not too loud, you can hear it if you listen, but not too bad. I am using the stock return line-small but it works OK. That being said, if I had this to do again I would find a 75-77 style tank and modify the sending unit to use an in-tank pump. Maybe combine a 75 and a 84-96 sender. I looked into an 82 tank, but the filler is moved in the 78-82 cars. Good luck with your project.
Just hunt down an 82 tank and use an 85-91 stock pump for an L98. You might only have to find a sending unit. I have a friend in Atlanta that has both and could tell you if you could just use the sender. Call John at 770-461-5211.
Thanks much! I figured there might be some later model w/stock efi
that would have a pump setup that would fit, never thought of the 82's
w/efi and the C4 pumps, good deal!
