Default Question for PROSOUTH??

What kind of modifications or fabrication did you have to do to use the 2002 Cherokee integrated steering gearbox?
I need a complete PS rebuild, including steering box, I'm looking for a better alternative to stock that costs less than Steeroids!

Default Re: Question for PROSOUTH?? (Smokehouse69)

71 Roadster has already done the conversion. Chris used an adapter plate. And had several problems obtaining alignment. Contact him, he's a really great guy, and see which way he reccomends.

I am going to cut my column off even with the firewall and use a coupler and shaft to hook them together. I will be able to weld a new plate to the frame to bolt to and not worry about all of the problems Chris had of alignment of the steering shaft and pittman to relay. I am also using a manual relay rod and manual pittman.

The box is really pretty close, but there is about a 3 degree difference in alignment and the bolt holes don't match the originals. By using a weld on plate I can apply the box, pittman and relay rod relationship and then let the box bolt to the plate and then align the column with the u-joints and shaft. It's not that bad either way.

There is a custom conversion from Corvette Steering for about $700.00 It looks pretty nice and is bolt in. JIM

Thanks for the info, it looks like it is more than just a bolt in, I'll give 71 Roadster (Chris) a shout out and see what he allows.
