My gas tank is back in. Just getting ready to fill her up (just a little) and then start the car to make sure there is no leaks. I would prefer to not have the exhaust on both for safety as that is where the leak would be and for convenience in case I have to pull everything a part.
I can't think of a reason why not but I thought I would check w/ the experts first.
Thanks for all the replies. That was GREAT!!! Makes me want to get a louder exhaust. :)
The car run like a champ and no fuel leaks at the gas tank. I did have a problem at the s line going from the fuel pump to the fuel line on the rail. My 'pre-vented' gas camp does not mean 'vented' even though I asked the idiots at the part store. I guess the vacuum pulled the return line off a little and it started leaking. I went ahead and pulled the gas cap off and reattached the s line and voila.
Now I need a new spring and to reattach the exhaust and I should be back on the road.
OPEN-HEADERS ON THE STREET RULE!!!!!
:jester :yesnod: :smash: :D   ;) :auto:  :steering:
About 12 years ago, a buddy I drag-raced with got married, and about 20 of us took our race-cars (none of us had REAL race-cars; just a bunch of 11-to-13 second street/strip cars), complete with open headers belching spent CAM2, rolling on GOODYEAR, M&H, & M/T slicks, to the church!
After the brief ceremony, the local police showed-up....TO ESCORT US ALL AROUND & THRU THE TOWN before the newly-weds went home!!!
The federales even allowed us to do 'water-burnouts' in front of the groom's auto-repair/high-performance shop before arriving at their home for the reception.....
A few (rare) times, after leaving the strip well after mid-night, we might try 'sneaking' home with open pipes, approx 15 miles one-way ( a few of us ran 'sticky-streets').
Once, several of us came right down Main Street (I live in the County Seat!), past the County Courthouse, at 2AM...
