As I use my 68 convertible to drive to work ( in good weather only  ), this poor thing is baking for 8 hours in the sun and this can't be good for the interior. :nopity
I was thinking of using a cockpit cover.
ECKLERS offers 3 differnt ones.
The one that fits over the closed Ragtop, I don't realy need.
The other 2 kinds are similar except for the price.
One is 60 $, the other one 140 $
Can anyone let me know if the cheap one will do ? I do not use it for rain protection ( I hope ).
ECKLERS catalogue page 33, FERGUSON or COVERCRAFT .?
I have the 60 doller cover and it is fine for keeping sun and leaves out. It would not stay on in strong wind, nor would it keep the rain out. It is very easy to install and remove and does not take up much space when stowed.
I have the $140-00 type. I just purchased my 75 vert last month, and it came with the car. I like the top very much. its made of vinyl and also folds up very easly for storage. the other model looks like it might be a cloth type fabric?. my opion is that both should work fine, just which way do ya want to go?
PS. mine has the pointed bolts simuliar to the rag top that connect to the deck lid. this makes it nice. also the straps connect to the front lower windshield and under the side rocker panels. (just like in the pic from ecklers for the C-3), hope this helps in yr decesion? save the :seeya
Has anyone used the 1968-82 Carbrella Sport Top?

I guess I'm missing something--how is using a cockpit cover any easier or faster than just putting the top up? I can get my top up in about 30 seconds.
:D My top has a removeable rear window...make that a "mostly removed" rear window...it's in pretty sad shape. As a temporary fix, the cockpit covers are cheaper than buying a new top and having it installed. Don't get me wrong, I am going to get a new top, but there are a bunch of other things that I could use the money for right at this moment.
I have the $60 Covercraft Gold cockpit cover and would let it go for $25 plus shipping. Never really used it that much, so it's in "like new" condition.
I have a vinyl cockpit cover that I bought more than 10 years ago. I can't remember who I bought it from.
What I particularly like about it is that I can put it on faster than I can raise the windows and put the top up... plus it is actually more waterproof since it completely covers the cockpit. On more than a few occasions I've washed the car with it on and the top down without any leaks. The second benefit is that it keeps the interior much cooler if you live in a hot climate.
It’s obviously not as secure as putting the top up, but I also have a proximity alarm, so most of the time when weather’s good, I use the cover. During three years in Hawaii, I used the top only a half dozen times. It works great and lasts a long time…
