Default Wheel question

I have a set of Chrome Cragars which came on the 68 I just purchased. I think they are 15x7, but not positive.

Can someone recommend tire sizes for 2 different wheel options.

First - if I go with rally wheels - what is the wisdest sixed tire which will fit? and is 15x8 the correct size to go with.

Second, if I go with American Racing version of the Cragar - I would like to use a deeper rear with wider rear tires. ONce again I need sizes for both wheel, and tires if possible. Also 15" or 16"??

thanks for any and all help.

Also.. if anyone is interested in the cragars, let me know - I will include tires with them. they are in very good condition - just need a little shining up.

Well, I'll get you back ttt with the comment that -- I think the '68 was the only shark with a 15x7 rallye wheel. From '69 on, they were 15x8. Now, that's not to say a 15x8 wouldn't work on your '68 ('68 owners???), but I don't think it's what the factory used.

For a 15x8 wheel, most would say 255/60-15 as the biggest tire. I have 245's on my '77 with no problems, but again, I'm not sure about your '68.

Hopefully, someone else can fill in the details.

I've run 275-60's on my stock rallyes on the back - but 245-60's is the biggest I can get on the front. Your '68- should be just like a '69 so the 8" rallye should bolt right up. There are plenty of guys here running 17" wheels -- I'm not sure how wide, but a seach should get you loads of infoand pics.
