Just got quoted $650.00 for a pick-up from Orem Utah to San Diego, just about a 8 hour drive with open truck. I know that is high if anyone can beat or know who can beat the price post/e-mail/ IM or call me.

Re: Need help finding a car transporter (Cali,68,L-79)
David,
There are a few local brokers, TNT(carlsbad) and A-A-Auto(Mirimar area) that you an try. I don't think you're going to find something much less than what you've been quoted.
Good luck with your purchase.
Re: Need help finding a car transporter (corvgreg)
Greg your right and they were both actually more expensive. I've got the transport locked in and Cali 2 will be heading home to San Diego next Tuesday.

Why not get a rental car and pick it up yourself. The fun factor driving a new vette home is amazing. I spent two tanks in the rental car to get to Florida and four tanks of gas to get her back to Tennessee.
I used InterCity Lines. Cost me $450.00 to transport from Milwaukee to Detroit. It was a closed carrier, and well worth the money! I was able to track the truck by satellite link up to the website (very cool!). The truck has hardwood floors, the wheels are strapped down and paper is put on the floors, seats covered, felt blanket over the car and then a plastic cover. They really show TLC when delivering your car and highly recommend them!

I used Road Scholar. They were the preferred transporter at Corvettes @ Carlisle and did a fantastic job delivering my car at a reasonable rate. :chevy http://www.roadscholar.com/
