80 vs. 81 Hood emblem. Difference??

Hello. I was wondering if anyone can tell me the difference between the hood emblem on an 81 and an 80. Is there a difference besides one being black (81) and the other being chrome (80)?

that is the only differance. chrome 80 vs a black 81

the chrome 80 emblems are slightly larger also. the 81 emblem's flags are thinner. i had to buy a 80 emblem for my 81 since the black 81's are discontinued.

1980 Chrome edge, 1981 Black edge. Most of the larger corvette vendors have color pictures in their catalogs.

as of a year ago they did not have the 81 emblems. i had checked with almost every vendor, since all of them list "CALL" as their price for an 81 emblem in their catalogs :smash: and there are only 2 differences in the emblems: the 81 has a black edge, and the flags are thinner vertically than on an 80. You can just buy an 80 emblem and paint the chrome edge black, but if your going for totally stock look, a NCRS judge or true enthusiast will be able to notice this right off the bat :yesnod:
