Air Filter Height
I have lots of clearance with the L88 Hood. So, I placed a 1 1/2 inch object on top of my existing 3 1/2 inch air filter and then looked through the windshield with a flashlight. There still appears to be at least an inch of clearance above the object.
So, would you increase the height of the filter to 5 or even 6 inches?

I don't think you'd see any performance benefit with your engine but if you like the looks, go for it. Keep in mind that the taller filters are more expensive and there's less selection to choose from. IMO, the money would be better spent if put towards something that actually improves performance like a taller intake manifold or a bigger cam.

With a solid lid filter the taller filter would yield a smoother flow path for the in coming air, which would result in less turbulence, which can result in better carb metering.
