a street legal, definite, consistent 10 second C3 is bogus in my opinion. i agree with the others, unless you spend ungodly amount of money...like Monty and Merlin...theres no way it could be possible and still have a reliable, street legal, daily driven car.

well its not going to be a daily driver and i could probably get and engine built for 5 or 6 and a supercharger for 3 and then my transmission for like 4 and then i would have to get some gears around 1 or 2 so that isn't too bad :flag

Be realistic about this. It can't be done for 10k. Not even close. You need more than 9k for a reliable 1000 hp small block. Then you need a differential (3k), half-shafts, drive shaft, and u-joints (1k), transmission (4k), tires (1k), cage (3k), and probably many more things. You also have to get it all installed. Maybe you can do that on your own, but this really isn't a good idea.

If you want to accelerate like you were shot out of a cannon, use that motorcycle license of yours. You can build a fast bike much cheaper than any car.

I also have to ask whether you've ever driven a really fast car. 1000 hp is a lot. I doubt you could handle it. I know I couldn't. Think about cruising along on the highway. Your foot feels a little stiff so you flex it a little. Before you know it, both rear tires start spinning. This makes the rear end extremely unstable, so the entire car goes into spin, and you hit a guardrail at 80 mph. You don't seem like you realize what you're talking about.

Daily driver or not, I don't know if you're seeing the whole picture. I'm certainly not trying to rain on your parade, I'm only trying to help fill you in a bit before you go off and make expensive mistakes. The rear suspension isn't built to take the kind of power you're talking about period. You have to do a lot of work to get it there and even then there are a lot of people who argue that you can't keep the IRS for a drag car (which with 1000HP is what you are building, no matter what you think). The problems are far more numerous than the differential. You will need to replace the driveshaft, half shafts, U-joints, U-joint retainers, differential side yokes, bushings, rear leaf spring, add safety loops for your driveshaft and half shafts, maybe change out your brake rotors and calipers, perhaps do some mods to make the half shafts more parallel to the ground so you're not stressing the u-joints too much. You'll probably need traction bars, and a wheelie bar. Sure, if you want to tool around town, or if you don't really want 10 second 1/4s you can probably skip a bunch of that, but then you're like some of the crazies around here who have more power than sense (damn I love you guys!) :D then there's the wheels and slicks...

If you really want an idea of what this will cost you, look at some of the projects with similar power. It really isn't an easy road. I think you are estimating far too low. Sure, you may be able to get the engine for $9K (or maybe not, I really don't know), but add to that a gigantic electric fuel pump (or dual pumps), new gas tank, fuel line to make an elephant envious, fuel regulator, pressure gauges, fuel induction system (carbs or EFI) and you're talking some serious bucks. The good fuel injection systems run several grand ($3K++) for what you're talking about, so I assume you're thinking about going with carbs... I doubt you're going to get by with a single carb, so what, is $500 a fair price per carb, I'm not sure with forced induction what you'd use... Motor mounts, plus probably chaining the engine down, frame reinforcement... This is just all from sitting in front of my computer and without much experience doing these things. The guys who have done it I'm sure can rattle off a whole bunch more stuff that you'll need as well. I've run into a lot of these things with my little bitty 383 swap...

Best of luck, though I'd suggest you go with a more modest buildup for your first...
