Default QUESTION FOR YALL RUNNING HOOKER SIDE PIPES

Well, I'm ready to order my sidepipes. I'm thinking on going with the metallic coating, do these hold up very well? or will i be wishing i had forked out the money and bougt jet hot ones a few years down the road. The jet hot ones are a good bit more expensive. are they really worth it. Just want your input.

Also what mufflers to run? baffles?

Thanks,
Eddie

My Hooker sidepipes rust so darn easy- and my car is RARELY ever wet -except for washing and the occasional unexpected shower.

However, glad I got the black pipes, I can easily tape off the car and paint.
Chrome ones dont seem to hold up well...the ones I have seen on the show circuit anyway.

My two cents :troll

I'm going to be getting mine coated this winter. They're pretty old (<12 yrs) but they hardly ever see water and they're rusting pretty good at the collector. As far as baffles, I just sent JCL a check for the Christmas Special... 10% off.

I have the chrome Hooker Sidepipes.. The only place that they rust is near the collector... Other than the discoloriation at the headers - they are holding up pretty good.. but I hardly ever drive the car in rain...

I don't use any mufflers because the car is mostly setup for Drag Racing and not that much for the street.. even though it's a streetable car....

The best choice for mufflers would be the uncapped STS Baffles...

I bought chrome and they looked good for a couple of years. They blued near the head and the entire header took on a gold tint.
Had them Jet-Hot coated with their sterling finish and they are pretty much bullet proof.
For mufflers I fabbed up a set from a pair of Dynomax Magnum glasspacks, best I've heard in sidepipes...
