I had my conrtrol arm bushings, ball joints, tie rods changed and front end alinged. My car runs fine then some times it wants to go left or right into the next lane. Could my front stabalizer bar be too tight or loose? The steering wheel had about an inch play and I tightened the steering box about a half turn and that seemed to help but the problem came back a week later. Could my steering box be too tight? Help!
If your steering gear adjustment was too tight, you would find that the car tended to not return to center. In other words, traveling down the road, if you turned slightly to the left, the car would continue turning left and not return to center.
On all the parts you replaced, you didn't mention anything about your idler arm. A worn idler arm will cause a lot of wander. If I remember correctly, you don't want any side to side or up and down looseness in the idler arm pivot.
What was involved with tightening the steering box? I think mine might need a slight tweek like that. I've got about an inch of free play in my wheen as it goes down the road.
