I was searching through some catalogs trying to price out an interior for my 69. I really need carpet, door panels, and the console (both the shifter console and the gauge console)
for the 'good' stuff from paragon they want
200 bucks for the carpet (without insulation)
500 bucks for deluxe door panels
150 bucks for the upper console that I'll have to modify to fit
I'm affraid to look for the lower console
I'm really tempted to use my discount at work for the carpet and door panels, but I've never heard of Crown Auto Interiors before :skep:
That's why I paid what I paid for my 73'. Some people just love to work on their cars. I use to but time is a factor now a days, so I wanted one that did not need much work, if any, and as you have found out, parts are not cheap.
She my be stock and 99% original, but at this time there is nothing she needs except for the a/c to be charged, and that can wait until next spring. All I've had to do since I bought her was to replace one front brake caliper, change the oil and wash her. She has almost 79,000 miles on her so I will up date her as needed, but right now, she looks good, fun to drive and I would drive her across country and not worry. After 30 year, She could use a better radio.
This is one of the reasons I bought the car I did. I paid a premium price for a finished car from a corvette specialist. I could have bought a car that needed paint (5k), new interior (1.5k for carpet, door panels, leather seat covers, dash pad) for 10k, or buy a turn-key corvette. A lot of people I talk to think I paid too much for my car but I am cruising the street, not the catalogs. :steering:

Thats great, but when you buy a Corvette in high school, you cant afford the turn key needs nothing one you want. you have to slowly build up to it

I think Ecklers's and Zip offer package deals. Still not cheap but you get a break. You can also order "driver"quality stuff a little cheaper too. otherwise got to a big corvette affair like NCRS meet in Orlando, where the have all of the vendors. Lots of used stuff too.
500 for deluxe door panels is a good deal, i remember 750 when i was looking this summer, no trip either. I found a few in my color at carlsie, 250 up and they were bad. There isnt much of a market for firethorn vette interior parts, 76 only. I went to a local vette shop to see if they had any firethorn interior dye, the guy asked if i was doing a buick
Corz - Call Corvette America and talk to them. They have excellent stuff and run discounts on packages. I even had them rebuild and re-upholster my seats. None of it is cheap, but don't buy until you at least talk to them.
Cory you're in the auto business, most of the vette supplier will discount the parts for you. I used to have a CA account years ago and they discount 25-30%. If not try Wilcox for interior they were the lowest priced for carpet. I picked up AL Knock carpet at Carlisle from Wild Bill's in MA for $150 with pads.

I would have gone with a turn key but then again I wanted to know every nut and bolt of the car. I would never do that if it was a perfect specimen to begin with. I got bit by the vette bug in more than just one way.
