Default Engine Identification

I recently bought a 1977 L-82 manual, however it definitely no longer has the L-82 engine. The engine casting number is 3914678 which is identified by Mortec as one of the following:

3914678....302.....68....2...Z-28 Camaro
3914678....327.....68....2
3914678....350.....68....2

The VIN number on the front of the engine block is V0507HH. Does anyone know which engine might be in the car or what else I can check to determine if it is a 302, 327 or 350? About the only thing that is certain is that it is from 1968.

Thanks for the help!
:)

The "HH" suffix was used three times. First in 1965 327ci/365hp in the Vette, then in 1966 as a 327ci/300hp in the Vette, and finaly in 1969 as a 350ci/300hp in the full size chevy.

What is the casting date (on the other side from the casting #)?

Thanks Tom....

Just to the left of the casting number it has a large GM and the number 8. I don't see any other numbers.

I want to order a few things, but I'm just not sure what engine I have. I wish I knew a little more about engines :(

The casting date would be on the passanger side of the block at the rear near the bellhousing flange (like the casting # but on the other side). Will look something like B129 for Feb 12, 1959/69/79 or the like.

Thanks again Tom...

I found it. It is either E 68 or E08, but I believe it is E68 (I am sure of the E and the 8).

Be very careful when you read these. I have mistaken 9's and 8's many times because of the font used.

Here is a pic of the date. You can't see the E, but I know that is right. I'm pretty sure it says E 68

My guess would be that it is the 350ci/300hp from a full size chevy
