Edlebrock! High quality, great performance, good customer service, reasonable price. Plenty of choices too. Just bolt’m on and go.
For iron heads I like World Products – but not in stock form as sold. Street legal and well made for a great price. Much better head than stock pieces.
Just so much more in these heads with pocket porting and bowl blending (unshrouding valves too). :yesnod:

A good product sells itself (cough):

A very good product OVER sells itself: Over-successful marketing can lead to a ton of issues for a company not prepared for this success.

That said

I have been very happy with my AFR 195 heads, and though I have no solid numbers the performance has been stellar (most people will attest to this).
However, I did have some issues with the heads when I first received them.
The only being that the valve seats were non-concentric and had to be touched up. Also it was apparent the castings/seats had been sitting for some time as there was light rust beginning to form. This was a minor issue and took very little to correct (although if not corrected could cause various problems). It is ALWAYS a good idea to second check the work you pay for.

The lead time and quality issues at AFR are consistent with a company unable to meet demand. After talking to AFR this became more apparent and did concern me in my purchase. I don't believe there are many companies out there that are out to steal your money and jerk you around for no reason other than spite. A growing company can be a nightmare if mis-managed.

Point being: any mass produced item will have an amount of error, and I believe that the situation at AFR will improve. If it doesn't they will have a bigger problem the growing: existing.

If you don't mind waiting (read: winter), then I would recommend them. Although you can get more accessible heads that with port work can do VERY good.

Good Luck, and may I ask what you are planning to build?
