Default Rust problem - I need advice

I keep going back and forth on whether to restore this car or not. I really love it. The car has a rusted frame and it needs replacing. The windshield frame is rusted at the top but looks good along the bottom. The winshield frame may need some reinforcing at the corners. The metal piece going down the side from the windshield frame to the rocKer channels is solid but is rusted where the body bolts to the frame.

Everything else is in great shape. It runs great, fiberglass is in greate shape, all electicals are in great shape. The car is original with original engine and transmission which both work great.

How much of the birdcage should I replace? How much would this cost? (I have a fried who may be able to do it). If I don't restore the car, how can I get rid of it? How much could I get in this condition?

Thanks for your advice.

I'm doing the same thing right now..... if the car doesn't have any sentimental value to it.... buy one that solid if you can.

I purchased a parts car for the frame with is now done and painted....

I have gutted the interior.... and my windshield frame is ok.... previously replaced but my door pillars are shot, virtually nothing left of them.

Fortunately I have a spare birdcage that I will swap in its door pillars and windshield frame. This will still be a lot of work but is doable.

If you have a friend that can do it go for it... but if you have to pay to have it done, I'd use it for parts and use another vette as the base for the project.

:iagree:
I'm breaking up a 74 to use the frame on my 73. the 74 birdcage is nonexistant and the sills are bad.
