Could somebody please tell me the proper backspace for rallye wheels on my 73 vette. Also, what is the biggest tire wheel combo I could fit on it.
Thanks,
Steve
Re: What is backset on Corvette rallye wheels (Ttypeterror)
Pretty sure its 4" backspace on 8" x 15" wheels. Original tires were GR70X15 which is approx 27" diameter. A close match to those tires is 215/70R15.
Here is a good tire/wheel size calculator http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Also try a forum search, there are lots of posts on this subject. You'll prolly find what you need after much sifting.

4 inch backspacing :yesnod: :yesnod:
I'm running a 28.1 inch tall tire in front on my track setup...
The widest tire that fits without rubbing in front is the 255/60R15.. The largest tire in the rear is a 275/60R15.. which may rub a little bit against the e-brake cable... The e-brake bracked can be relocated to avoid that problem...

:iagree: I did not want to chance the 275s with my car so I just went with 255 all the way around. Now I can actually rotate my tires.
