About to order the front suspension kit from Vansteel. I need input from you guys, should I go with poly or rubber control arm bushings. The car is a bone stock '79, driven about 3000 miles per year. No hard driving, just pleasure cruising. Please let me know the good and bad points of each.....Thanks.
I have the poly bushings they work great but I dont care what you do to them they are gonna make noise. That grease they give you lasts about a month. :mad.
I saw Poly, they should last a lot longer. There may be some noise, but it doesn't bother me-it's a Corvette not a Rolls-Royce. Honestly I don't have much noise at all.
My real concern is squeaking. I installed a rear sway bar w/poly mounts, and it squeaked like hell. I ended up replacing the poly mounts with rubber. I'd like to avoid doing my c-arms twice.....JC

I agree. I have the poly in the back and they chirp like little birds. A friend made up my mind when I replaced the front bushings. Quote" Those rubber bushings have lasted on the car for 34 years. You won't be around when the new ones go" Can't argue that logic. :steering:
Lets see...In 34 years, I'll be 75. I'm going with the rubber. TPLS 69 I like your logic, I'll let my son worry about it in 2037. Thanks guys for the input.

John

Re: Poly or Rubber (johnnyc)
I put poly into my front end 2 years ago and they make no noise. I chose them because you can install them your self and don't need a press to install them. That and if and when they do wear out (not likely to happen) I can just pop them out and pop new ones in.
I have poly on the 77 with no squeeks after 1 1/2 yrs. Greased em up with synthetic before install. I've seen grafite inpregnated poly bushings lately. They should NEVER squeek.
