Adhesive for installing carpet?

Adhesive for installing carpet?
We are installing new carpet today in the '79. What type of adhesive should we buy? would the 3M kind work or do we need something stronger? Also, if you have any pointers you want to tell, im all ears :)

The 3-M adhesive will work fine, just follow the instructions. A good heat gun comes in handy to form a few of the corners. Make sure the carpet is not cold when installing. It will fit and form a lot better when warm. Make sure of the fit before you cut and trim.. Are you installing a heat/ sound barrier?

No, im not installing new heat/sound barrier, beleive it or not, but the old stuff is still in great shape, so ill be re-using it.
