Lets just say anxiety is fear about future uncertainties. That is how I feel when driving my car on the street and it is not even painted yet!
To go anywhere around here it is bumper to bumper most of the time. I am always afraid someone is going to hit me. I have a 45 mile route in the country and another ride along the ocean that is about 70 miles. Other than that, I am scared to drive it in traffic.
Redlight running is rampant here. So, does anyone else have this anxiety? How do you overcome it?

I feel anxious when I take my vette out as well. Life is uncertain, the world is imperfect, stupid people are dumb. There's not much you can do about things you can't control, except have insurance.
Riding a motorcyle you get this feeling as well. Just do the best you can to anticipate trouble and think ahead. Traffic is a PITA so i take my pickup truck in those rides and save the vette and bike for more open territory.
I know exactly how you feel.
Because of this fear/anxiety, I:
1. Never drive it in bad weather
2. Never drive it in rush hour
3. Practice defensive driving- I stay as far away from other cars as possible.
4. Never park next to anyone.
Thats probably why Ive driven the Vette only about 10 times this year.

:iagree:
I had a couple of mini vans pass me on the hyway Monday during my daily drive into Hamilton doing around 160 K/hr (100 M/hr). makes me wounder what it will be like once I have the Vette on the road.
I can sympathize - I live in Manhattan! I don't drive mine all that often so, as someone else said, if you can be selective when you take it out, that helps.
Best to just try to relax - getting anxious about it can make the situation worse as you may overreact to something/nothing and cause yourself a problem.
You can't control other people and how they drive - just do your best to make sure YOU are paying attention to your driving. :steering:
Get lots of insurance and try not to worry about it. I felt uneasy about driving in traffic until I got my insurance company to give me $15K "Agreed Value" now I don't worry so much. If it gets hit and I can walk away with my personal safety and $15K then I figure I'm nto out too much.
I do however worry constantly about it when I'm on my Harley. Not because the bike is anything special but more for my safety. The older folks here in FL are a terror, especially this time of year.
After hitting a deer in the vette, I'm really paranoid about it happening again. I drive a lot slower now (even though I was under the speed limit when I hit the thing...).

I feel most nervous when coming to a red light.... I think I'm wearing
a hole in my rear-view mirror from stairing at it all the time
I just hope for the best.
Some of you may remember a few months ago there was a guy sitting at a redlight someplace in California; maybe it was LA. He was out for a Sunday morning ride in his classic corvette; an early 70's model.
A semi-truck hit him in the rear at speed knocking him and vette serveral hundred feet. He died.
I know exactly how you feel and I go thru the same thing!!! I have one route thru the park here that I seem to take every time I drive the vette! If I go anywhere else I get stuck in traffic, feel like I am dodging every other car on the road and it takes the fun out of driving. I hate stopping at a traffic light on an upslope, because inevitably some moron will pull up within 6 inches of my rear bumper forcing me to start without any rearward motion! :mad Every time I get cutoff or tailgated I am reminded of the extra vulnerability I have in the vette convertible; lapbelt only, gas tank directly behind me, no airbag, no crush protection, etc..... Damn! I think I will go out for a drive right now!!! MJ
I can definitely relate. Especially to the bumper hogs who have to get as close as they can so they take a peak at the inside of the car. Driving a vette is defensive driving at its best. STPMAN..would it be your vette I saw about 3 months ago taking the Brantford ramp to the 403 from the Linc at Ancaster?
