I measured my 69 today with the stock springs...from the ground to the center of the fender lip its about 27 1/4". Would 550 springs bring it down 1" like they say???? Guys with 550lb springs..whats your measurements ?
Re: Do 550lb springs really lower your car (Corey 68)
Corey that would be great..i'm rebuilding the front on the 69..all new poly bushings..and was contemplating on whether i want to cut the coils i got, or get some 550 springs. thanks again.
Re: Do 550lb springs really lower your car (Redshark6974)
I have the 550's on my vert. just click on my sig to check the pics. I quite like them combined with the Bilsteins the ride is tight and also very comfortable which actually surprised me. I had a new set put on 3 years ago so you can see the ride height fairly well.

If you install the VBP front monospring conversion kit, you can adjust the height just where you want it. Nice feature to have if you ever use a tire with a different diameter, go to aluminum heads, etc. I'm thinking about this setup for my '66.
By the way, I used to spend a lot of time cruising up Virginia Avenue or Main Street, then looping around to Rt 60 and repeating the process. WV is a nice place most of the year, but you can have the winters!
Re: Do 550lb springs really lower your car (Mike Smith)
Mike Smith, I live down the road from Virginia Ave...maybe 2 minutes away. And the body shop my friend owns you see in the sig pic below is on Main Street. WOW, what a small world.
Re: Do 550lb springs really lower your car (The Money Pit)
Will original Gymkhana springs lower it like VBP springs do?
I'm currently at about 29" to the bottom of the front fender lips. Is this normal? It sounds high to me. I want to drop to 27 or so, as low as I can safely pretty much.
#735481 is getting the 550 lb/in front coils mated with the VB&P fiberglass rear monospring at 360 lb/in. The rear is already installed and the fronts will be put in this winter. The shocks I bought are the white KYBs, though I hear they'll be very stiff. I'll probably end up sending my Bilsteins back to the company to have them revalved.
