Looks like you are gettting around 8" height in the front. I was going to make my own ramps first. Then I saw the Rhino ramps. I got the heavy duty pair. They are light weight and have very good traction. For around $30, you can't beat them. They are wide (around 12") and made for low clearance cars. Not worth making your own, IMO...
Part of the reason for doing this is to also clean up the frame after 32 years. There's only slight rust after all of this time, but while I'm underneath I want to take care of that. I only want to be under this vette once and that's why it is up in the air tonight where I can do everything I want to do. If I have jack stands on the frame it hinders that.

I had just resigned myself to having to deal with 4 areas of the frame that were dinged and paint chipped due to the jack stands. i had painted the frame and moved the jackstands using towels to prevent the paint getting mared but it never worked.

Thick carpet glued to the U portion of the jack stand works for me.
