I am going to look at a 69 roadster that is said to be a L-88. The car has 42,000 orginal miles in good shape. Color is black on black with both tops. What am I to look for and questions to ask other than documenting the numbers. Is there a price guide or auction result page I can look at?
Garson
If its a true L-88 I doubt very much if there will be any price dickering. As stated above, these rarest of rare are going for six figures. If it is a L-88, you most likely are going to want to get a professional appraiser to document EVERYTHING for you. Fact is, there are so few of these available I highly doubt its an L88.
Good luck.
:iagree: You don't just go look at an L88, you do some major-league research and get a professional Corvette appraiser involved. As mentioned, L88s tend to go for well over $100K.
Like the other said, it's a six figure car as represented. Sooo, lets assume it's not. Even if it's a good garden variety 427 'vert (did I just say that?), minimum for a nice non-matching car is in the twenties. I'd be VERY careful before I handed over any dough.
Re: Need help pricing a 69 Corvette..... (Wrencher)
Approach with caution!!! I have personally seen several of these cars that were doctored up to look like a L88. They are being sold to uneducated buyers out there for big bucks. People make a living on these fakes. The cheapest real l88 convertible i saw needed a complete restoration, it was a mess from being raced, sold for 60k. Restored you won't touch one, coupe or convertible, for under 90k.
