This guy sent me a bunch of pics of his 78 Pace car he is selling. The seats obviously are wrong, the interior color appears to be wrong also. The paint job is great looking in the pics. No decals. He said it was repainted just before he bought it.
He bought it 12 years ago he says. The interior looks more gray than oyster. I'll bet this guy doesnt even know this is'nt a real Pace car. I wonder if I should clue him in or just leave it alone?
I just talked to the guy on the phone. He says it is a Pace car replica. He put that in his add. I have seen a lot of 78 Pace cars for sale. I am pretty sure they are all replica's unless they actually were track cars, correct? Do the original Pace cars, six thousand odd number of them, come with either engine?
This one is a regular 78 L48 auto car with the pace car paint scheme added 12 years ago.
1. Check VINs in the Black Book
2. Find a Forum member who has a REAL Pace Car and look over it to see whats what.
3. Go to a NCRS meet and check out a Pace Car.

Good luck. There are plenty of them out there.
I dont want that car. Like you say there are plenty of real ones out there.
The Pace car was available with optional velour seats in place of leather. I have seen these, but I can't remeber if the bolstering pattern was the same of different on the cloth seats. There was a Pace at this years Bloomington with the cloth ones. Check the Corvette restoration manuals.
Paul, those are NOT pace car seats, they may be for a regular 78, the new seats were for pace cars and I think were an option for 78, they were made stock as of 79. ...LT
