Re: Corvette GT...It DID exist!!! Proof here!!! (Dep)
I knew the car existed, but the topic that brought that up was a kid bought one for 500 dollars. I seriously doubt that kid could afford a car like that, and that it would go for 500.

Sig: Ah ha! So you are the one that posted about the Vette GT. I thought the whole thing was :bs until I started poking around last night with the search engine. $500? HA! Only in his dreams :)

Joel Rosen is a member on another forum that I belong to. He use to chime in every now and then. I also wouldn't be one bit suprised if he was a member here.
He will not release production numbers for any vehicle lines he modified although there are some pretty close guesses.
He also has all of his badging copyrighted. The only way to purchase Baldwin/Motion badging is to have your car authenticated by Mr. Motion himself. Only then will he sell you the badges you are after. He does charge a fee to authenticate his cars, but it is also about 20% of what it costs to have a Yenko authenticated.

Not too long ago someone on here posted the pics of the GT car on here. I have the full color pics saved on my screen saver. Pretty cool car with Datsun headlights, slantback glass and firebird taillights.

I go past the old Motion shop everyday to work. I've heard that Joel will open his books for $500.00 to check your vin#. Worth it...if you think it's real.
Re: Corvette GT...It DID exist!!! Proof here!!! (GUSTO14)
"Thes were cars sold by Baldwin Chevrolet of Brooklyn, N.Y. They teamed up with Dyno tuner, drag racer and entrepreneur Joel Rosen who produced these along with the much more famous Baldwin/Motion Camaros. These were done by swapping in L72 427 crate motors and selling the L78 396 engines. Baldwin/Motion also produced 427SS Chevy II's and Chevelles. Rosen had a reputation as a dyno tuner supreme and racer so they wer very fast."
Baldwin Chevrolet was not located in Brooklyn. Baldwin Chevrolet and Baldwin Motion Performance were both located in Baldwin, NY which is on Long Island about 30 miles from Brooklyn. Many of these cars were sold and raced on the streets of New York. That means the Bronx, Brooklyn ,Queens and Staten Island. They were also raced at local tracks. I saw many of these cars race and they were awesome.
At $500 one of these cars is a steal no matter what the condition. These cars are a piece of racing history even though they were not factory authorized. I find it hard to believe that someone could own one of these cars and not know waht they had.
Re: Corvette GT...It DID exist!!! Proof here!!! (Dep)
I did not post that topic someone else did, but I remember it as I was posting replies. I think the end of that topic was the kid probably had an Opel GT commonly refered to as the Mini-vette.
Re: Corvette GT...It DID exist!!! Proof here!!! (Sigforty)
I dialed the old phone number for Baldwin-Motion. Its listed in the ad at the top of this thread.
Some foreign guy answered the phone and I hung up.
Somone else dial it and see what they say :D

 Am I the only one who thinks this car is ugly? Early rice-afication of one of the prettiest cars on earth. :leaving:
:iagree: almost.
i hate the "datsunization" of the front lights and not too fond of that hood either. however, i really like the back and think the glass should have come that way.
worth is such a subjective issue. some people would say that car is worth more than an original L88 and that's true of the market. however, if i saw that car next to an original '68 L88 and both were in the same condition and asking the same price, well, all i'll say is: someone else would really enjoy that motion car.
Re: Corvette GT...It DID exist!!! Proof here!!! (1970 Stingray)
The "Datsunization" of the Baldwin Vette is personal preference. It does away with the vacuum headlight :bs and was/is a popular modification. Better-looking conversions have come out since then because of improved technology. As far as the mud flaps, that was SOP back in the 70's if you installed wide tires on a car. We can laugh at it now, but those mud flaps prevented gravel nicks and repairs on the expensive fiberglass body. So I don't see them as detracting at all.
BTW....when you pull the L-88 up next to the Baldwin car at the strip, you'll be eating HIS dust :D
