Paging Killain!!!
quote from Killain:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll bet the gear on the bottom of the distrubtor is on mismatched. there is two dimples that need to aline otherwise the dist body is 180 out of position. Lars knows what I'm talking about. Just had an article in 'Vette' or Corvette fever' about this mismatched gear situation. It's a very common mistake and easily overlooked. but if they don't match up them the dist body has to swing way out of the way to get correct timing.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You know I made a white chalk mark on the dist body and gear to make sure I realigned the gear to dist. body correctly however I never thought to look for these dimples. Could be even if I made that mark Bubba before me had it back wards, remember it was missing when I got it. Killain please expound. Your saying the gear can only go in one way. Dimple on body and on gear?????????

I'll find the article, but it was about these early chevy engines and the way the gear goes on the bottom of the dist, and if it's not on right you have to twist the body of the distrubutor way around to get correct timing, I'll go look right now,
