Winter project #1 - Window problems
My drivers side power window only goes about 3/4 of the way up before it stops. The motor keeps running, but th ewindow stops. I think the gear that makes the window go up is stripped. I took the door panel off, but it appears that the mechanism for the windo is inside the door.
My question is, how do I get to it? Do I have to remove all of the mechanisms for the door latch/locks and then take the inside metal piece off of the door?
Just wanted to make sure befroe I start ripping stuff out.
Thanks!
to first check that your upper window stops haven't slipped down and are preventing the window from raising up all the way. Beyond that, as far as
removing your window regulators, you need to remove your door glass first.
Then unbolt the regulator and wiggle it out through the access hole. Once
apart you should be able to easily find any stripped metal teeth on the regulator or from the gears in the power window motor. I cleaned all parts
in solvent to get rid of all traces of old grease and dirt , and then regrease with fresh grease. Especially helpful is to remove your door glass channel
tracks and completely clean and degrease them of all the crud and then
regrease or use spray silicone on them. The clean tracks and reduced friction
makes the glass glide up and down fast and smooth. CDC

It sounds like you have some teeth stripped of the regulator.
