I think you might want to take a look at your lower control arm pick up points this is the weak area on the C3 front suspension. They won't just rip off the crossmember they will slowly pull out and you won't notice untill it runs your Caster so far out that the car pulls.
My advise is beef up this area first.
Good Luck Mark

SCCACFC I agree with that, I am going to weld gussets in this area plus completely reweld the mounting channel after adding the corner gussets.
I welded a plate across the lower surface of my A arm tonight. I cut out the spring pocket and made a plate to cover the entire bottom , welded this in place and plan to weld my coil over mounts to this plate. The spring pocket is also welded to this plate.
For a stock car this is alot of extra work and not worth the effort.
Hi Marck
I saw those A-arms too, but then I asked myself:
Where is the plate for that little rubber bumper to bang against when the front is without load? eg when the car is lifted up?
I must be missing something here. Why would someone who worked at a race shop (that should be in the know) say that it would be worth while to "box" in the A-Arms from a performance standpoint on a 165hp car? I see no benefit that would be noticeable while driving the car.
Yeah he is always trying to talk me into turning the 75 into more of a race car. He always tells me what I "need" to do to my car. My standpoint is that I didn't buy a C3 to go fast, I got it cause I like the car.
To me it will be more worth my time to just buy a 99 or 00 FRC when the C6 hits the market. Vastly better power/handling and I don't have to mod it. For me having two stock vettes is better than 1 modded one. But to each their own.
I guess that I agree with others. For a 165hp street driven car its pretty pointless.
Van Steel, so your position is the same as mine with regard to heim joints on a street machine, I have been somewhat critical about the steeroids use of heim joints expecially in this gritty/sandy state like Florida, suspecting undoo wear on them, and much less rainy weather....anywhere...I had voiced that concern sometimes in the past, now I find it super interesting that in fact your experiences go along with my suspicions.....
just how bad is the overall reliability compared to a stock joint in the tie rods???
