Just wanted to know why they decided to put the build sheet out in the weather were it can get destroyed. Appreciate all the other information as well, but "Can't we all just get along"? :flag
Re: Who's brain dead idea........ (greatgonzoglenn)
I replaced my 72's original gas tank last summer, and found neither hide nor hair of anything that resembles a tank sticker. :cry Poor me... :cry
Eddie
Isnt it true that some vettes have build sheets somewhere in the frame also?
And I dont understand why making a fake build sheet is so illegal. When the sheet arrives, looking like it was just printed yesterday, I think its a little obvious that it actually was printed yesterday and not 30 years ago.

Chemical treatment of build sheet to give it "aged" look...$15.
Decieving a buyer into thinking he has a numbers matching correct car and charging him accordingly...priceless! :D
For everything else...there's Mastercrook. :lolg: :lolg: :lolg: :lolg:

Good point. I would assume that 90% of classic 'vette owners arent dishonest enough to buy one and claim it as original, even if just at shows, but that 10% is out there.....

Hey Everybody,

Don't sweat it, Gonzo. Me and Dep are just elbow-poking--I know it ain't personal, and I'm pretty sure he does, too.

Most owners are honest upright guys like the rest of us (cough cough) ;)
The ones you have to be careful of are the not-so reputable dealers.
There ARE some slimeballs out there.
JB: I always enjoy playing devil's advocate (dang horns keep poking me though). Nothing is EVER personal with me and I hope everyone understands that. Plus 99% of my posts on here are funnin' around :jester :jester
But I do like to rattle the occasional cage and see what pops out :reddevil
You can get your build sheet from the National Corvette Museum by giving them your VIN and $30-$40.
Does this look like the original tank sticker?
As far as a fake sheet being done, that add must be in the back of the comic books with the X-ray specs adds.
Brent...
The National Corvette Museum will provide your build sheet for $30-$40 as long as it was built in Bowling Green. Can't do it for a St. Louis car....the records don't exist.
Mine might still be there on the 77, but my guess is that it is long gone. I'll find out in a few months when I lift the body off.
