Im looking for a cam which will give me fairly good driveability and at the same time awesome performance, im willing to sacriffice some driveability to get a wilder cam but nothing too extreme, any suggestions on lift/duration, company, etc. I have an L-48 with an edelbrock performer RPM intake, 650 speed demon carb, and im going to port/match the heads and intake.
I would go with a hydraulic roller (retrofit) cam. You can get more lift per duration and a faster ramp speed. That allows you to stay with a "smaller" cam. I would look at Comp Cams's XR276HR-10, 224/230 duration with .502 / .510 lift. There website's dyno numbers show 427 # tq and 373 hp with S/R heads, 9.25 compression and Performer intake.
