I removed the original shocks from my 75 yesterday. They were actually very easy to remove, no struggling with rust frozen bolts. The front shocks were still in good shape, the rears were dead. Looks like we gained some height out of the swap . Put Delcos on, painted them gray first, after cleaning off one of the old shocks I wonder about the gray. My originals look more of a blue gray color. Boxed the originals and put them in the attic. Don't really know if shocks can be reconditioned, but saved them anyway. Took her out for a ride yesterday, what a difference the shocks make.
 WOW Frank. Three years ago, I did a complete suspension change (shocks, springs, all bushings) on my '75. World of difference. Just replaced to shocks a month ago and I thought I could feel a difference again.
Hope there are other things that you are thinking of replacing too. :D

Re: Removed original shocks (frank0075)
 , I just finished my shock install yesterday. Only thing is it has been raining here, therefore I'll have to wait until we have dry roads to test 'em out. It took 60 pounds for torque to remove the top bolt on the passenger rear. I'm wondering if there are torque specifications for installation?

thanks for sharing...yes original production shocks for 1975. Those part numbers were used only in 75. The dates codes reveal fronts are dated the 204th day of 74 (July?) while rears are date coded the 210th day of 74. I would imagine your vehicle was built sometime early fall 74 for the 75 production year.
The bluish gray is the color originally on the 75 shocks...in 76 they changed to black or maybe it was 77!
