Default (specs) will this camshaft work

I have a 76 L48 and am peiceing together a want list of parts to waken it up.
What I'm wondering is if the following cam will work with stock heads and a performance intake manifold, Im thinking an Edlebrock Torker II.
Its definitly getting new springs, pushrods, and lifters along with it.
specs installed at 106 intake CL

intake exhaust
duration at 0.05 230 230
lobe lift .32 .32
Lobe sepretation 110

I'm also considering some sportsmans II heads, but maybe not right away but for stage II, and maybe some 1.6 rockers, possibly roller.

So can this work with a stock 76 L48 and Torker II or will it be too big, and would I be able to get it to idle low enoguh for a stock stall converter?
Thankyou in advance for any help.

IMO that one is too much for stock heads and converter. I'd look for something around 214-218 dgr intake and 5-10 more on the exhaust.

:iagree: I ran that cam in a 350/350 69 Vette with a 4 speed and 3.55 gears and it worked well. I think for a stock L48 it is to much. Around 218 dur for intake and 220 dur for exhaust would work very well. Even if you add the Sportsman heads it will be OK

Ok im gonna go for a small cam but just out of curisoity what would that do in my L48, extra lopey idle? Is the lift about right or should i go smaller on that?

Matt

I've used the Comp Cam 268H 218/218@.050 duration and .454/.454 lift of a 1969 350/300hp and I loved it!!! It had a little rumble at idle and with an aftermarket intake and Holley would pull stong to over 6K. I recommed this cam to afriend of mine and he installed it in his 1977 Corvette when he rebuild it, and he was very happy. I've also installed too big of a cam in El Camino I had and it was horrible!! It idled like sh**, had no low end torque, and performace was worse than the GM stock cam. IMO it is better to error on the smaller side when it comes to picking a cam. If you are going to go the whole route with intake, carburation, headers, compression, and igniton a larger cam will and does work great!!!! But, if you are not willing to go the extra performace steps you WILL be much happier with the smaller cam.

what I am thinking about is a set of spotsmans II heads, possibly with 1.6 ratio roller rockers, and Torker II intake and cam for now with the stock exhaust and compression. I ahve a edlebrock performer 600cfm on there now so the carb is ok. What im trying to figure out is with the new heads an intake what woudl be a good cam with the possibility of a blower in the future. Thats why im keeping the 8.5 pistons. Id liek to do the intake and cam now and heads next summer, but be able to keep a cam that would be able to handle the blower too. So I think im either going to go with Sportsmans II or similar, intake and a cam a little smaller than the one stated. That way its lopy but semi manageable and wouldnt have to change out later. If its too big id go straight to the 268 because ive heard alot of good things about those in stock L48s, its just mine wont be stock for too much longer. Im also thining a super T10 this spring, but that depends on wether I take the GF on a trip this spring break or not. If so Ill do the tranny this summer and push the rest back.
Well ill do some more cam studying and I have a contact who does heads that can help. I know cams are diffrent for blowers so you dont have to tell me that.
Well ill come back when i figure out some more stuff. But now I knwo i couldnt just do the intake and cam without the heads and maybe a few other things.
thankyou
