Still working on my front end suspension and power steering rebuild.... Been a very slow 3 month process so far! While I'm waiting for back ordered parts from Corvette Central :mad , I'm finishing up the cleaning and painting underneath. Amazing what a little elbow grease and paint will do :smash:
well I have not had a job since Thanksgiving. The day before was my last day. Now My current project is getting our collision center opened up for the new year. we spend all of our time trying to get things lined up and done. A lot of long days and nights. At least we have lights and power hooked up. No we just need natural gas to feed our 1mil btu paint booth and our radiant heaters to stay warm. it gets mighty cold in there with no heat.
once shes open and things start running smoothe, I will start looking for my next vette project.
my current project is figuring out how to pay for the next project.
Till then im gonna replace all the hoses under the hood along with a good cleaning.
- New front bushings
- New ball joints
- Refinish A-arms
- Install VBP front monospring or SpeedDirect coilovers
- Refinish front of frame, radiator support, bumper supports, etc.
- Rebuild relay rod
- New idler arm
- Install VBP HD tie rod tubes
- New tie rod ends
- Flush cooling system and install correct hoses and clamps
- Fix the 999 other problems I find in the course of completing the projects above
My big project right now is completing the body off restoration on the '70 LT-1... Hope to have that one done by spring if all goes according to plan.
Other projects include overseeing the restoration of my '69 Camaro as well as locating hard to find parts when needed. I don't do restorations on the metal cars... I have a friend who has one of the premier Camaro restoration shops in the country. It makes more sense to just let him handle it.
I'm also locating the few parts that I need for the LS-6 restoration. I'll get into that car when the LT-1 is finished.
- gathering grey interior peices so i can get rid of the blue interior it has now
- fix tint on rear siding window
- upgrade stereo
- install alarm
- new shocks/steering stabalizer
- upgrade head light wiring and upgrade headlights
- upgrade "big 3" wires
vette:
- upgrade headlight wiring and headlights
- fix vacuum system for headlights
- start interior resto?
- stereo upgrade
- keyless entry
- engine mods
- clean engine compartment
- get loud azz mufflers
that's the short list... how much will actually get done? depends on how much I have to shell out for xmas/insurance/tution which all are due in the next month :cry
Just minor work on the Vette this winter, a few things to be re-chromed, radio, clock, water temp gauge, and tach repair. I'm afraid that it's payback time for wife this winter though, she wants a new kitchen. Could by a new ZO6 for what this is going to cost. The built in refrigerator she wants costs more than a stroker motor, I can always pretend every time I go in there for a cold one?
I hope to start the fresh engine in one of my Chevelles and move it out of the garage so I can bring the Vette in. I'll install the offset trailing arms and redo at least one wheel bearing assy (I didn't get the end play down to where I wanted it the last time I was into it). Then I can install the new tires and wheels and look at clearence issues (spring,anti-sway bar, fender...). I know the diff. needs to be gone through so it may come out before pushing the Vette out to bring the Blazer in for a windshield and diff. gear change. What a way to spend Christmas vacation
On my 71, I have 1 trailing arm off, still soaking the other side hoping for the best. New differential, T/A, struts, brake lines and through detailing of the underside. Shift kit while it is up on jacks
Current Project:
Repairing driver's side door latch assembly, replacing driver's side door outer handle, repairing driver's side power window assembly, and other stuff.... dealing with the driver's side door. All while listening to the passenger side door (which works perfectly) laugh its **** off at me.
Next Project:
Replace power steering hoses, rebuild slave cylinder and steering valve with new o-rings, seals, boots, straps, grommets, paint, etc...
After that:
I need to replace the "S" hoses at the fuel pump, might as well replace the fuel pump too for good measure. Motor mounts need attention... needs new shocks... needs new calipers... needs new bushings...
This is going to take a lot of beer.
 :chevy
Just ordered New calipers and sports rotors from VB&P (taking advantage of the $/pound exchange rate) hopefully will get them fitted before the car goes of for a full body strip down respray, rechrome etc. at the end of January. I'm goig to miss it while its gone :cry :cry
