Default Ref. Homemade offset trailing arms

I found this thread concerning homemade offset trailing arms. I'm thinking about taking it one step further by modifying the trailing arm by relating the location of the spring end bolt were is attaches to the spring; move closer towards the centerline of the car. I understand that it is possible to order composite springs to length, shorter. This idea would increase the space between the spring and the wheel/tire and decrease the curvature of the spring, since it is shorter thus also lowering the car. What do you guys think?

That's not a 4 link in a C3, it's a C4 with heim ended rods for the dog bones, brembo calipers and coil overs.

I'm thinking about taking it one step further

Look at the picture in the link. The spring perch has been moved over.
A steel spring is easy to shorten.
Springs are not that hard and with a sharp drill bit , slow speed and cutting oil it is easy to cut the end off and redrill.

What's up with the dual calipers? Or is this some kind of demo?

I've seen that before and never understood either... just for more braking power? Not really the best way to go about that. Or is it for use as a parking brake?

Where can you order composite springs to length??

I seem to remember reading a post of someone asking a vender about delivery of a shortened spring. I just can't remember who. I'm searching for that thread.

The smaller one on the right looks like a parking brake but then again....?

I asked for a shortened composite spring. One of the vendors was giving a great deal so I wanted in but with a few inches shorter. The cost for the shortened spring was quit a bit higher.
I ended up going coil over.

read what I wrote above, it is NOT a C3, it's a C4. The brembo caliper takes care of the braking but since the late C4s have the parking brake as part of the original calipers you must retain them. The early ones had a drum style setup like we do. So, the brembo caliper in that pic is for braking and the other one is the parking brake now.
