Default Outer door handle replacement

I have to buy a new outer door handle to make my recent door latch thereapy come to life. I notice the vendors sell a $22 handle and a $60 handle. Is the $22 handle really any different other than where its made? Does it look or work differently when on the car?

The $22.00 handle is referred to as the "cheap foreign repro". They look grossly the same, but as I recall, the design in the spring hinge area is different. The chrome is poor, and the overall quality of the part is poor.

I'd use the good GM handles myself. Chuck

The cheap ones are made in CHina or Taiwan or somplace like that. The more expensive ones are made in Siberia or Mexico. Just kidding, the more expensive ones are supposedly GM reproductions and the others are not. I guess th GM repros are better quality. When I did my outer handles I couldn't decide whether to go with the GM ones or the cheap ones. I ended up going with the cheap ones. That was a year ago and I have no complaints yet.

Outer door handles are not a fun job...I hope you have small hands and a lot of patience. You can do it though.

There are some tips about using tape and a screwdriver on one of the other threads from this week, I'd take a look at it for help in replacement I wish he would have come forward with that tip when I did mine 3 months ago, OH Well Good luck and "HAPPY HOLIDAYS"

There are 2 kinds of inexpensive ones on the market, poor quality and very good quality. I bought inexpensive ($25 I think) ones that were very good to excellent quality at Keen in Cincinnati. Call them @ 1-800-757-KEEN and ask for Kevin.

Thanks for all the replies, everyone. So the consensus is that the more expensive one is better quality, but the cheaper ones don't look / fit any different but still work well.
