Does anyone have a picture of a 75 convertible hardtop? If you have one, could you post it so I know what I should be looking at? I have a chance to purchase a convertible hardtop for a 75. Seller says it is in fair shape. One hitch. She says it is a vinyl top. Now, I know this didn't come vinyl covered from the factory. Either she is confusing fiberglass with vinyl, or someone at some time produced a very tacky hardtop.
Thanks for your help. If no photos, any tips on what I should look for? Unfortunately, I do not have a convertible to drive over and fit under the top. It is 300 miles away in NC.
Gm did offer vinyl coverd hard tops fot the convt. It was a option that I think was made available in 72 not sure. The only differance from the 68-75 hard tops would be the center mounting bolt located under the rear window and the chrome tips at the rear points. Hope this helps.
In 1975 GM offered the convertable vette with the hard top and in vinyl , only 279 were sold that way. This would be quite rare.
Hi
Yes, if it's original. Vinyl covering is available aftermarket, isn't it ?
How much is she asking ?
They seem to go at around 500 to 750 $ depending on how good they are.
Keep in mind that the weather seals for hardtops run at 350 $ + the set.
Far to expensive in regards to the softtop set.mad
As mentioned above, the factory offered an option in every year 68 - 75, where your fiberglas hardtop would be covered in black vinyl. So it's just a vinyl covering on the same fiberglas hardtop. Of course it could easily be done aftermarket as well in any color vinyl. I don't think it would even be that hard to do it yourself. The nice thing about buying a black vinyl covered hardtop is it will look good on any car. Almost any painted hardtop will not match your car and would look at best "OK" and at worst, ridiculous, ie an orange hardtop on a green car. MJ
Thanks so much for the replies. I am going to go check out the top today. I guess I was wrong about the vinyl being offered. Once again, members of this forum are the best. Have a great holiday and hope Santa brings all those Corvette goodies on everyone's list.

Hello
Well, taste is something strange
What one finds impossible, somebody else might find beautifull.
:hat
I personally don't like the vinyl style hardtop too much.
But I agree, it should have the same colour as the car ot at least black.
The other trick is to make sure that the headliner color matches your interior. Although noone would see it from the outside, it is still a consideration if you want it to be correct.
I have a 75 vert and just purchased a hard top . my car is white and the top has Blk. vynal .after looking under the interior has a date written 1970, the top fits fine after some fine tuning. all the clamps in the front and the posts in the front as well as the rear can be adjusted slightly. I had to purchase all the new mounting bolts because my car was not originaly equiped with a hard top. ... the top I purchased is in very good condition and other then a few minor wear spots in the vynal is perfect. I payed $575.00 and also had to travel 300 Mls. cause shipping isnt a good idea for these items. also look at some of the catalogs and start getting an idea of weather stripping, new interior, and vynal covering for these tops they can add up and make the purchase not very great?. but over all I love the top. the one I have looks identical to Ed-Ts pic . I had to drill some holes into the deck lid. (which makes me cringe every time I have to cut the fiberglass) but just be careful. I also bought some of the static cling plastic cause everyone says the top will scratch yr paint. the center bolt in the rear will keep a tight seal under the rear glass... good luck and ask lots of questions before you make the drive. hope the part is in really great shape and yr suscesful with a good buy.. :seeya save the wave.
