As many of you may remember I had been having problems getting my Speed Demon 850 tuned in right on my 71. Many had suggested that I drill my throttle plates out to lean out my idle and allow for a high enough idle to set my idle speed correctly and my timing correctly. Lars asked me not to do this and to ship my carb to Him and The Colorado Corvette Crazies to experiment with..... so I did.
Lars then posted how well the 850 performed on a smaller cubic inch engine than mine, shooting the "850 is too much for a 454" theory in the water.
I got my carb back and I must tell you all, the man has done it again. I got this carb for Christmas LAST YEAR and was never able to get it to run without having the potato shooter BOOM occur under heavy excelleration until now. This thing runs AWESOME!!!! Now my 71 has a totally refreshed distributor and custom tuned Speed Demon carb.
Once again, Thanks a million Lars!!!! This Buds for You!!!! ;)
He IS totally the man!!! I sure wish I could get him to do his magic on my lil' ole Qjet :sniff: :crossedfingers:  to go with my totally new Mallory dizzy and coil!
Good to hear this... we used my '64 w/ a Lars-built small-block 409 to test your carb. I drove it as did Lars and man did that 850 run nicely on my 409. I have a Speed Demon 750 now and your 850 ran so much smoother.
Also, we're in the process of setting-up the "Tuned By Lars" web-site which will include a knowledge base as well as on-line tech support, pictures, and on-line ordering of turn-key tuned crate engines (350, 383, 406, and a 409) as well as other items. Stay tuned...
