My 2 latest engine mods were the crankcase evacuation system and the Victor Jr. Intake..
After driving a few 100 miles with those mods I just checked my plugs:
Before the mods - my plugs were black with some oily buildup on them.
I just got back from the garage. I checked all 8 plugs... and all of them were light grey with no buildup or oil on them at all... I love it when mods work :D :D :D

Now you're talkin'!!! I remember back in the early 60's when they had a pipe coming out of the motor to exhaust the crankase vapors right out into the air. Ahhhhh...savor that aroma! No PCV valve to clog up. All the funk went OUT of the engine to be recycled naturally by trees :D

The only purpose of a PCV system is emission related.. It's not efficient enough to get all the pressure that builds up in a performance engine out of the crankcase.. The crankcase evacuation system produces quite some vacuum at higher RPM :D :D
Re: Update on latest engine mods... (GrandSportC3)
You know. over the years I have been mostly an old Pontiac hotrodder, and NEVER once had an intake sealing issue, of course they share that spyder looking intake like the BB Mopar engines, with that valley pan cover...someone did same thing for SBC here I hear, but that' s just for carb's not L98 injection as I have.....anyway....
I fought long a hard with the Edel base I have here for the injection, finally got the flanges ground taking 20 mills off each upper edge, keeping the lower edge in position...changing the angle....no more oil consumption....
I figger that's what you had, from what you say, only MY engine smoked like a freaking school buss.....

I don't really think that most of my oil consumption was at the intake.. I think that it was mainly caused by pressure build up... The crankcase evacuation system did a great job!!

So, I guess I missed a post or two on this system.
Is it an add-on evacuation system - like a belt driven air pump ?
It sounds like it is not using the intake vacuum.

:seeya
I'm not using intake vacuum.. I was using intake vacuum but that was the problem.. The intake vacuum would suck all the oily air into the engine and foul the plugs.. My evacuation system is hooked up to the collectors of my headers. The exhaust gas flow creates a vacuum which sucks all the oily air from the crankcase out of the exhaust!! Why would you want to recycle oily air into the engine?? You want to get rid of the oily air and not getting it into the engine where it fouls the plugs... PCV systems are for emission purposes only. On a none-emission controlled vehicle - there's no reason to use a PCV system.. Just get rid of the hot - oily air out of the exhaust!!

Just love the smell of burn crankcase oil in the morning.. I'll always wanted to try one of those. Sense small block are always prone to leaking and blowing out gaskets, I would think this would help.

absolutely!! The pressure in the crancase is responsible for most oil leaks.. Pressure in the engine isn't a good thing - so why not getting rid of it??
You should pop off a hose every now and then and see if you are sucking allot of oil out of the engine. (see if there dripping) Keep an eye on the oil level. You probably know this but thought I would mention it. If you go for a cruse on the highway you may be surprised how much oil those evacuators can pull through those hoses. Baffles in the valve covers are a big help to that's if you don't already have them. No get out there rip apart some ricers :D :D
