I NEED A NEW DISTRIBUTOR WHICH ONE??????????
My 1973 350 has a MSD HEI and Blaster 2 coil without a control box. After about 10 to 15 mins of driving the car just dies. Just waiting about 10 mins the car will usually crank but sometimes misses and shuts down again. I heard that it is the distributor, sometimes when it gets hot then it stops firing right. IS this true. How can I get around buying a new distributor?? Can I change the insides out or something? What do you recommend me doing for the most cost effective solution? Thanks :confused:

The stock GM HEI distributor had this problem. It was the module in the dist that would heat up and die. When it cooled it was fine. I thought MSD would have solved this but maybe not. I would call them and get their side of what might be happeneing.

If you find you already have plenty of thermal compound/dielectric grease under your ignition module, then I would go get a new module and replace it.
Also some say they keep a spare in the car.
