I got mine from Dan a while ago. It looks good, and so far I have not needed to use it. I believe he has some pics of my car and others with the extinguishers in them on his site.
Darn,I wish I'd caught that group purchase! How much with dicounted price? The way things have been going the last couple years,I think I oughta have one.Doesnt look that bad in chrome,& I guess it mounts alrite iin the replacement '79? :D
I LOVE mine, like Paul's, right in front of the passenger seat. My friend had a near disaster last week in his jaguar V12. He had an engine fire and couldnt locate his fire extinguisher (turns out it was in the trunk). Fortunately a pizza delivery guy happened by and they put out the fire with a bottle of soda!! seriously!! Anyway, when I heard the story I yelled at him and told him how I keep mine mounted directly in front of the passenger seat. MJ

As I recall, the price was not discounted much at all.... might have ended up being free shipping only? I didn't care because I was looking to buy one anyway and needed only the tiniest push to get off the fence. :) MJ
I actually bought mine before the GP. I was one of the first people to get a Chrome Halotron extinguisher from Dan. I forget the price I payed, but it was around 130 dollars.
I think free shipping was the hook. Even to Canada. No regrets on the purchase: it looks great in the car and is a wee bit of insurance against fire. And C2s smell of gasoline all the time for some reason. That was one of my first reactions after moving over from a C3. I do not know the reason but apparently it is normal and accepted!!
You know..if that bracket is one of the plastic ones I've seen,I'm not so sure they would be safe or suitable for vehicle use.I would think if it got jostled around enough, especially in a accident,it would break or release and let that extinguisher go flying wherever.I know I wouldnt want to get beaned in the head with that-after the accident I survived and smacking my head on the a-pillar.Just a thought! :D :nopity
Its is a steel bracket and clasp. I still need to mount it to the floor yet. I might go with velcro to stick it to the carpet. I figure if a crash is hard enough for me to worry about physical harm from the extingquisher, that would be the least of my worries.
I think I'd secure it better, but we all have our priorities...Good Luck. With the near death & close calls I'v had the last 3 yrs,I dont think I have any free ones left.If you'd like I could go thru it all with ya. :D :blueangel: :chevy
it had better be a big azz discount for me to spend $55 for a $2 piece of metal!
i looked at those for about 10 seconds, just long enough to see that i could make one of those in about 30 minutes for nothing!
i ended up putting it here instead...

Yeah, I know it needs secured better. Just havent gotten to it.
IMHO, NEVER, NEVER drive a Corvette WITHOUT a fire extinguisher! I've had and seen too many disasters from Corvette fires. They really, really burn fast!
my 2c.
If you are any good with a welder you can make a bracket which bolts to the floor using the seat hold down bolts. Totally removable with no holes in the floor!
Mine is bolted to the passenger side seat mounting points. I can reach it easier than if it was under my legs with the steering wheel in the way. Just set it up so the seat is all the way forward when you design the bracket or you may damage the seat vinyl/leather when unsuspecting passengers try to adjust the seat.
Thanks for the pics. I had one like that in my 1979. The bracket came with the unit and had two mounting holes. I bolted it through the floor on the passenger side.
