I picked up a used Idle stop solenoid for near nothing, and was amazed, it works fine.
Now, I'm guessing the bracket was originally finished in the same finish as carb linkage, etc., but can't tell, as the bracket shows it's 29 years.
Same with the solenoid itselt. As amazing as it is that it works well, I can't tell what color of paint or other finish it originally had due to age.
I have another low mileage 74, but who knows who's done what to that one, even thought I suspect it's original. So if someone knows for sure what finishes the bracket and Idle Stop Solenoid had originally, I'd appreciate it. I might as well redo the finish as original!
These brackets were usually zinc chromate plated. The same finish that is on the wiper door acutator and top of the master cylinder. Sometimes people call this gold cadium plating, I truly don't know which is right.
