Any hints or suggestions for removing the interior "T-bar" center panel from a '76? After removing the (2) screws up front (under header panel) and the rear (2)...what else is there, I don't see anything else to remove.
I went so far as removing the chrome "t" that fits between the tops and across front windshield frame to see if something was under there to remove, but nothing I could see (except where a previous owner had some major windshield surgery done :smash: )
Re: Removing "T-Bar" Center Panel...Help! (LAvetteman)
LA,
I tried pulling down on it to the point where I thought that any more would break it. It wasn't down far enough to really get a look underneath to see if anything else was attached.
Do you have yours off right now? If so, a pic of what I'm looking for would be great :yesnod:
Re: Removing "T-Bar" Center Panel...Help! (Fleetwood)
No, my interior light is located in the rear "cave". It seems to be holding on at about the center point (probably where future years did have the interior light). When I pull down on the front portion, it bends at about this midpoint, but don't see any screws or clips of any kind.
If I do need to pry, what should I use (and where) as to not damage it? It looks like an original piece, so it's 27+ years old and probably very fragile at this point.
There are 3 pins that push into spring loaded clips in the top. You will need to get on each side of the clip with a thin screwdriver or a flat pry bar and pop them loose. The clip is riveted to the trim and is probably very fragile. Good Luck, Craig

Craig,
Got the pics, THANKS!
I would have never looked for these clips as all the pics I've seen in catalogs only show the "nice" side. Now, let's see if 27 years can withstand some careful prying....
