My left headlight doesnt close at all it both headlights open just fine and the right one closes good, I tested the left actuator with a vacuum pump and the actuator holds vacuum on both the open and close ports of the actuator. When I apply vacuum to the open side the headlight raises fine but when I apply vacuum to the close side of the actuator it holds vaccum but the headlight doesnt make any attempt to close. Shouldnt the headlight close when I apply the vacuum to the close port on the rear of the actuator? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 76 Headlight Close problem (turtlevette)
When you open the lights with the car running they both open. When you close only one will go down. The light that will not go down try lifting up on it and see if it will then go down. If it does it may need to be lubed at the end caps of the housing or the springs.
I found on mine to find a linkage problem I removed the front grill and reached in (engine not running) and raised the light by hand and lowered it by hand also. If you have a bind you will feel it. Compare to the other side if it is not obvious. Disconnect vac hose on the firewall were it connects to the check value first.
I tried lifting on the headlight when it was in the open position and it made a click sound then snapped shut. So I appreciate the advice. My question is if there is an adjustment that has to be made on the linkage so I dont have to lift it at all. I only have to lift it a very slight amount to get it to work, Is there an adjustment on the linkage to correct the problem? I have oiled everything possible in there with wd40 but still have to lift the light slightly. Thank you for the help.
