Help ID Master Cylinder
I'm trying to determine if a master cylinder I have is correct for my '68 w/ PB. It was in a box with some other parts I got when I bought her some years back. I know that the MC presently bolted on is not original.
The casting number is 5460346 (or, if my old eyes didn't quite get it right, 5480346.) There is a stamped "D2" on the bleeder side. It has two bleeders above the holes where the lines would connect.

5480346 is the right casting number. Also the two bleeders are also right. That D2 is just a mold number. At the front, it should have a "machined out" half moon or half circle with a "PG" usually lightly sometimes illegible stamp. If I remember correctly too, these were'nt dated until after 1970. If it is dated, it is done just above the front brake line boss in very, very small characters. Sounds like yours is the original one. Don't ever trade it away-have it rebuilt by a professional master cylinder rebuilder. :yesnod:
