If your AC doesn't cool the pass compartment down there is something wrong. I hear the "C3 AC's were no good anyway" all the time and I think it's a cop out. A C3 AC system in good order will cool just fine. I drive my 71 year round and even in 110F heat here in Dallas I get home without breaking a sweat.
I agree.
My '69's A/C may not be as good as my family vehicles but on high fan speed it does the job.
I replaced mine with a Hot Rod air system. I had removed my old system and drove around for about 2-3 weeks before I put in the new one. I had so much more room in the engine compartment and also eliminated most of the hot feet air that was coming in through the old system. I had found that my evap unit was 2/3 full of junk & leaves, my A/C flap door in the pass side fender was rusted open,. and the heat core was broken. ( thats why it was disconnected when i got the car I guess). I would have left it alone if I wasn't going to replace it and just drive in heat. Since I went through the experience of no system in the car for a while I would have removed it
I took the AC out of my 81. It was not working when I bought the car and I was told that it would be about $800.00 to get it fixed. Well I don't drive the vette that much so I removed the compressor, dryer and all lines. It makes it much easier to work on the engine now.
Paul, I am SHOCKED!!!! I hope I am around when you submit that 75 for bowtie judging to blow the whistle on you!!! ]

MJ, My '75 would be lucky to get a 3rd Flight :lolg: Hey, can't NCRS members have "modified" cars too??? I like a couple of my cars being very original, but my '75 will still be an NCRS(Not Correctly Restored Stingray :lolg: )Corvette.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the hole in the firewall different for a non-A/C car as well as the ductwork, vacuum lines, wiring harnesses, and controls?
I've put the non A/C heater box cover over the larger "A/C" hole and it's not as big as you think. I'll have to "cover" an area of about 1"x 6" along the bottom and a piece about the same size going vertical. I'm making a thin metal plate which will end up shaped like an "L" on it's side. Once I seal the egdes with epoxy and paint the firewall with this piece installed, it'll take someone that knows what they are looking at to be able to tell what I've done. Going from A/C to no A/C is EASY. Going from non-A/C to A/C is a lot harder(and a lot more $$$$$). I've gotten most of the correct parts and it's pretty straight forward and simple. :yesnod:
